Biochar: Multi-purpose Material Helping to Mitigate Climate Chnage featuring Michael Kaiser, Nash Leef, and Jedd Fischer
Biochar is a byproduct created through the specialized and controlled burning, or pyrolysis, of forestry and agriculture wastes. Biochar can improve soil health, water quality, and sequester carbon.
Michael Kaiser is an assistant professor at UNL in the Agronomy and Horticulture Department and his research primarily focuses on effects of land use, management and soil organic matter dynamics. Nash Leef is an Environmental Scientist for the City of Lincoln and co-owner of Salt Slope Farm and has assisted in the development of the Lincoln Biochar Initiative. Jedd Fischer is a Senior Project manager at NPPD, and is responsible for evaluating, developing, and coordinating new electrical generation strategy opportunitie
