2015 - Cory Johnson, Class of 2009
Cory Johnson was named Metropolitan Community College’s 2015 Distinguished Alumni winner.
Cory, a business development manager at AIT Worldwide Logistics, is an integral part of the leadership team at this local Omaha company.
Born and raised in Omaha, Johnson graduated from Millard South High School and went to work at another division of AIT Omaha – Cargo Zone, LLC. Starting out in warehouse operations and forklift duty, he took on ever-increasing responsibilities over the past 10 years and became the foreign trade zone administrator while also building on new business through sales activity at Cargo Zone. While working full time in the early years at Cargo Zone, Johnson attended MCC full time and earned his A.A.S. in Business Management. He went on to earn his B.S. in Marketing from Bellevue University, again while working full time at Cargo Zone.
Deeply engaged in the local community on many fronts, Johnson has a passion for working with youth to help them explore career pathways into the transportation, distribution and logistics industry. As a board member for the Nebraska Logistics Council for the past five years and current president, he led the fundraising effort to establish the NLC endowed scholarship for high school students entering the transportation, distribution and logistics industry.
