Media alert: Metro Omaha Trades Invitational tomorrow

What: More than 200 area high school and Metropolitan Community College students will display their trade skills at the inaugural Metro Omaha Trades Invitational , a competition that will help determine who will advance to other competitions in the state of Nebraska.

When: Saturday, Feb. 2, 8 a.m.-noon

Where:

Competition locations

  • Firefighting and construction trades will be held at the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology and the Construction Education Center, Fort Omaha Campus, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway
  • Manufacturing competitions will be held at the Industrial Training Center, South Omaha Campus, 2909 Edward Babe Gomez Ave.
  • Automotive competitions will be held at the Applied Technology Center, 10407 State St., and the Mahoney building, South Omaha Campus, 2909 Edward Babe Gomez Ave.
  • Audio and visual competitions will be hosted by the Omaha Career Center, 1502 Cuming St.

An awards ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. inside the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology on the Fort Omaha Campus. For a full schedule of competitions, please contact Derek Rayment at darayment@mccneb.edu or 402-960-0697.
