MEDIA ALERT: MCC hosts College Lineman Rodeo at Applied Technology Center on Friday, April 21 at 9 a.m.
 
Metropolitan Community College will host the 2023 College Lineman Rodeo, a competition among regional schools in which utility line students participate in events that demonstrate industry safety, accuracy and camaraderie. Nearly 100 students from postsecondary schools throughout the Midwest, including colleges from Nebraska, Missouri and Michigan, will compete on Friday, April 21 at the MCC Applied Technology Center (10407 State St.).
 
Students will move between timed events that include framing, cross arm change outs and an obstacle course that includes a 40-foot competitors will ascend. A mystery event will also take place and a written exam factors into the scoring for the competition. Competitors will use industry tools, operate equipment and climb utility poles to perform tasks that will be judged by industry professionals. Participants will also have the opportunity to interview for internships with representatives from industry companies on hand.
