Nebraskans benefit from property tax relief

OMAHA, Nebraska (February 9, 2023) – This tax season, more property tax relief is available for Nebraska property owners. Last spring, state lawmakers approved a measure that provides income tax credits to reimburse taxpayers for a portion of their community college taxes paid.

These new tax credits will reimburse individual taxpayers in Metropolitan Community College’s four-county service area (Douglas, Sarpy, Dodge and Washington) for a portion of their community college property taxes. A similar credit for local K-12 school district taxes is also available.

To access the credits, taxpayers are required to file a Nebraska income tax return for the tax year. For more information about this tax credit and the property tax credit form, visit revenue.nebraska.gov/about/nebraska-property-tax-credit.
