I.T. Internship & Career Readiness Program

JOB AND INTERNSHIP GUIDE

MCC Information Technology Department

Internships are a great way to build new skills, boost your resume and explore different careers. Internships can also lead to a full-time job. In fact, 7 in 10 internships do! MCC collaborates with many area businesses and organizations to offer internships and early job opportunities to INFO students. Many jobs are paid and allow for flexible scheduling as well.

CHECK YOUR READINESS

INFO students who meet all of the following criteria may be eligible for an internship REFERRAL:

  1. Completion of Course Requirements (listed below)
  2. Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher
  3. An MCC I.T. Faculty Endorsement or Recommendation
  4. A current resume that has been reviewed and approved by MCC I.T. Faculty or Staff.
 

Students who meet criteria 1 and 2 above will be invited to enroll in our I.T. Internship / Career Readiness Course to begin working towards satisfying criteria 3 and 4 if needed. This supplemental learning material is being offered at no additional charge to all qualifying MCC I.T. students. Those student who successfully complete these supplemental learning modules will earn digital badges which can be presented to perspective employers verifying that you meet our minimum expectations for I.T. career readiness.
To request enrollment in this course, please contact our INFO Department Earn-and-Learn Team via email at INFO-Earn-and-Learn@mccneb.edu. Please include "I.T. Career Readiness Course Enrollment Request" in the subject line of your email when requesting permission to enroll. Additionally, please be sure to include the following items in your email when requesting course enrollment:

 
  1. Your Full Name
  2. MCC Student ID
  3. An unofficial copy of your MCC course transcript which can be downloaded from the MyWay Student Planner.
  4. An instructor endorsement or recommendation for course enrollment

MINIMUM COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Course Requirements:

Complete the INFO Core and I.T. focus area courses listed below. Additional courses may be recommended and will be determined on a case-by-case basis. For example, if your I.T. focus area is Desktop Support Specialist, you should complete INFO 1000, 1002, 2805, 1005, 1030, and 1125 prior to pursuing an MCC-sponsored internship.
