International Student Services (ISS) welcomes and supports prospective and current F-1 students to achieve their personal, educational, or career goals at Metropolitan Community College.
Purpose Statement:
ISS reviews applications for admission, provides general immigration and academic advising, and liases with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies involved with F-1 students.

Naomi Theophanous is the PDSO and Coordinator for International Student Services for all F-1 international students at the multi-campus Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, NE. She guides prospective and current F-1 students on admissions, academic difficulties, health insurance, and immigration regulations. She gives multiple presentations to instructors and staff who serve F-1 students, and she facilitates the quarterly orientations for F-1 students. She was promoted to the Assistant Director for Diversity Student Services at Florida Atlantic University - MacArthur Campus in Jupiter, FL where she coordinated multicultural programming and provided direct support to F-1 students and students with disabilities. She received her MA in intercultural relations from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA and her BAs in anthropology/sociology and international studies from Central College in Pella, IA.

Jamie is a graduate of MCC's career certificate in Business Start Up and is actively pursuing her MCC associate's degree in Business Administration and another career certificate in Entrepreneur Specialist. She anticipates graduating in Feb 2024. She enjoys helping F-1 applicants apply to MCC and supporting F-1 students in reaching their personal and educational goals.
