Enrolling in ae/Ged classes

  • Students under 19 years of age must have "Permission to Enroll" from Nebraska Department of Education and MCC before they can register for class.
  • Permission to enroll packets are available at the Fort Omaha Campus, Bldg 9, Room 101 or by calling (402) 457-2312.

ENROLLING IN AE/GED IS NOW A TWO PART PROCESS.

Step 1

  • The student will come to the Fort Omaha Campus at 30th and Fort Street, Building 9, Room 101 to receive s student number. The student must bring a valid nebraska ID. The student will then schedule the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) placement exams and orientation. The AE/GED Department is accepting new students for the Spring Quarter on the following days:BEGINNING FEBRUARY 1ST, 2010.  Winter Quarter Registration is Closed.
  • The TABE exams are scheduled over two days in three hour sessions. All placement testing and orientation sessions are held at the Fort Omaha Campus, Building 9, Room 103. Attendance for scheduled testing times is mandatory. Failure to attend both sessions will cause the student to be disenrolled.

Step 2

  • After completing the two testing and orientation sessions, the student will receive placement information from AE/GED staff by phone.

   

        The student will be given options of classes to choose from according to placement

        test results. Once the student has selected the class they wish to attend, the

        student will then registered into class. Both TABE and orientation sessions must be

        completed to be officially registered into class for the Fall Quarter.

OFFICIAL GED TESTING INFORMATION

  • 16, 17, and 18 year olds need special permission to take the GED Examination.
  • All students must come to the AE Office to get registered. Bring a valid Nebraska photo ID.
  • Each student must attend a GED testing Orientation prior to testing.
  • GED Test Orientation and GED Tests are scheduled by appointment only.
  • All official GED testing is held at the Fort Omaha Campus only. Students must have a waiver from their instructor prior to scheduling tests.

Thursday

9:30 a.m. - 11:10 a.m. - Social Studies OR Reading Test (1st/3rd Thursday ONLY)

11:20 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. - Science Test (1st/3rd Thursday ONLY)*

5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. - GED Testing Orientation

6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.- Writing Test

Saturday

8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. - GED Testing Orientation

9:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. - Math Test

*Testing scheduled for 1st/3rd weeks of the month are indicating the first full weeks, not necessarily the first Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.

    • The Spanish versions of the GED Tests are given at various times. Please call 457-2312 for additional information.

      TESTING FEES:

    16 and 17 year olds $50.00 (non-refundable)
    18 years and above $55.00 (non-refundable)

All fees should be paid at:

Student Services, Fort Omaha Campus, Building 10

24 hours in advance of orientation or testing.

To cancel or reschedule a GED test or Orientation session, call 457-2312. Examinees failing to call will be charged a $10.00 no show fee.

The original testing fee is good for one year. After one year from the first test you will be charged $10 per test to complete the balance of testing.

The Volunteer Literacy Project

Volunteers are recruited and welcomed from the community to assist the teaching staff and students in AE and non-credit ESL. AE and ESL students need the help and support of community citizens who are willing to give their time and talents to teach basic academic skills.
