A desire to see that the citizens of Sarpy County and the entire Metropolitan Community College area receive the best and most affordable post secondary education available led Steve Grabowski to run and serve as a board member. Elected in 2006 to represent District 5 and re-elected in 2014, Grabowski’s current term runs through 2018.
"The enrollment at Metropolitan Community College has been growing at a steady rate. We need to manage this growth to ensure that the quality of education and the condition of the educational facilities does not slip in to a state of disrepair," Grabowski said.
Steve Grabowski has been a law enforcement officer in Nebraska for 37 years. Thirty-one of those years have been spent with the Sarpy County Sheriff's Department. He is currently a Lieutenant in the Investigative Division and has served as president of the Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police for ten years. A great deal of Grabowski's background with the Fraternal Order of Police is in the area of labor relations. He has also spent a great deal of time working with the Nebraska Unicameral on law enforcement issues.
Grabowski and his wife Linda have three grown children Steve, Jill and Megan and 11 grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys reading (mainly United States history from 1800 to 1860) and growing roses. His favorite hobby of all is his 11 grandchildren, Blake, Skylar, Justin, Sophie and Luca, Rocky, Stevie, Kemper, Vinnie, Cooper and Kael.
