A belief that MCC is an important educational institution and needs adequate state and local support led Tim Potter to serve on MCC’s Board of Governors. First elected in 1996 and re-elected in 2002, 2006 and 2010, Potter’s term runs through 2014. He served as Board Chair in 2004 and 2005.
Potter has been a market researcher at ACI Worldwide Inc., a software company and a community development planner at the Metro Area Planning Agency in Omaha, in addition to operating his own market research business.
As a Metro board member, Potter was involved in the hiring of two College presidents and the adoption of the College’s Facilities Master Plan. He hopes to continue to promote open lines of communication between students, staff and other board members. He also wants to secure funding for the building improvements cited in the Master Plan and increase awareness of MCC as a gateway to a four-year institution.
Potter, an Omaha native, attended Benson High School before going to college at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He later received a master’s degree in community and regional planning from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s in business administration from UNO.
Potter is a former president of the Aksarben-Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association, is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Aksarben Future Trust and is active in the Douglas County Democratic Party. He also enjoys golf, tennis, racquetball and reading.
