COLLEGE FAIRS

College fairs can seem overwhelming and a bit daunting to parents as well as students. Here are a few tips to help you both navigate them!

College Fair Tips for Parents and Students

  1. Check with a high school counselor to see if the college fair is automated. Be sure to sign up early.
  2. If the college fair takes place during the school day, have your child ask ahead which colleges will be there and help him/her make a "Top 2" list the night before—pick which schools he/she wants to spend the most time talking with.
  3. Check out a college you or your child might not have heard of before. Who knows, your child might end up finding an interesting program neither of you knew existed.
  4. If it is a large college fair, have your child ask if there is a map available that includes where certain colleges will be located.
  5. If the college fair is in the evening and you are able to attend with your student, talk the night before about your game plan for the event.
  6. Remember to stop by the MCC table.

Check out MCC at these automated Omaha-area college fairs:

  • Oct. 23 – Southeast Community College, Lincoln, Neb.
  • Oct. 25 – Fremont High School, Fremont, Neb.
  • Oct. 25 – Gretna High School, Gretna, Neb.
  • Oct. 30 – University of Nebraska, Omaha, Neb.
