Pulitzer Prize Winner Doug Wright to be Honored at 2008 Theatre Conference

Doug Wright The Great Plains Theatre Conference is pleased to announce they will honor Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning playwright Doug Wright at the third annual Conference at Metropolitan Community College, May 24-31, 2008. Wright has been named by the Conference as the recipient of the 2008 Great Plains Playwright Award.

Wright´s one-man play, I Am My Own Wife, won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the 2004 Tony Award for Best Play and the 2004 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding New Play. The show was recently produced by Omaha´s SNAP! Productions, winning six Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards including Best Play, Best Director and Best Actor. Wright´s other significant works include the Tony-nominated musical Grey Gardens, Quills and the recently opened Broadway adaptation of Disney´s The Little Mermaid.

Also attending the 2008 Great Plains Theatre Conference are award-winning director Marshall Mason, two-time Academy Award winner Patricia Neal, two-time Tony Award winner Tammy Grimes and Broadway actor Joel Vig.
