  • 50 students and 25 MCC employees decided to make Martin Luther King Jr. Day ´A Day On, Not a Day Off´ by donating their talents volunteering at area organizations and agencies.
  • MCC was awarded a $20,000 grant from the Midwest Consortium for Service-Learning in Higher Education. The money will be used to enhance and expand service-learning opportunities for MCC students, staff and faculty.
  • The MCC Foundation´s 2008 annual employee giving campaign raised more than $24,000 for student support and scholarship funds from more than 140 employees.
  • The La Vista Chamber of Commerce recognized MCC as 2008 Business of the Year for being a good community partner and member of the La Vista Chamber and having a successful year.
  • Graphic Communication Arts and Design student Josh Schwieger received two of the three American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) gold awards in the student category for his CD design and trading cards. He also received a bronze award for a direct mail postcard. Justin Schafer and Craig Hughes both received bronze awards for poster designs.
  • More than 20,000 diapers were collected the evening of Dec. 11 at MCC´s Sarpy Center for the MCC-sponsored Diaper Drive that benefits the Lydia House.
