Spring 2012 |
Great Plains Theatre Conference
Saturday, May 26 through Saturday, June 2
Metropolitan Community College, Fort Omaha Campus, 30th and Fort streets
Hundreds of theatre enthusiasts will converge in Omaha for a week of collaboration, conversation and camaraderie during the annual Great Plains Theatre Conference. Daily PlayLab and MainStage readings are the foundation of the Conference. Thirty-five new works will be rehearsed by local and national directors and actors and performed in staged readings. Playwrights will hear their play and receive feedback from master playwrights, theater scholars, directors and the public in a guided–response setting.
During the evening, five PlayFest performances will be set in nontraditional spaces that have an aesthetic connection to the play being produced and the community where it is being staged. Each night will be held in a geographically, socially and culturally diverse section of Omaha and will be accompanied by live, local musicians performing original scores.
The daily PlayLabs and the evening PlayFest are free and open to the public.
