Summer 2009 |
Students enrolled in MCC´s Institute for the Culinary Arts will be
applying their craft and deepening their education through a unique, hands-on
experience at the Village Pointe Farmers Market. Students and their instructor
spend Saturdays at the market meeting vendors, learning about locally raised
and produced food items and filling their grocery bags. After purchasing
market items, the students return to the kitchens at MCC and process the raw
ingredients into such delicacies as pickles, jam, compound butter, infused
oils, chicken stock, dehydrated herbs and more. The newly created foods are
used for special dinners throughout the summer and at MCC´s Sage Student
MCC will also feature live cooking demonstrations throughout the summer and
fall at the Farmers Market. The dates for these shows are June 27, July 18,
Aug. 15, Sept. 12 and Oct. 3.
The Village Pointe Farmers Market takes place every Saturday, May 2 through
Oct. 3, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Parking for the event is available in the southeast
parking lot at Village Pointe shopping center.
