Corporate Education & Training Offers Continuing Education Series for Nurses

Winter 2008 | Archives

Nursing students MCC´s Corporate Education & Training Division (CET) launches a new series of continuing education classes for nurses and nursing students in 2009. The monthly classes offer necessary contact hours for RNs and LPNs that promote knowledge and educational enhancement for these healthcare professionals.

Nurses are required to renew their licenses every two years; on odd years for LPNs and even years for RNs. They are required to have 20 contact hours at the time of license renewal, and the sessions offered by CET will help them reach that. Sessions with one presenter are worth one contact hour; those with two presenters are worth two contact hours.

"Enhanced educational opportunities for nurses, offered through a continued education model provide our community with affordable access to experts in a variety of healthcare specialties," said Dr. Stacey Ocander, dean of Health and Public Services. "MCC has created a year-long program that exposes our nursing professionals to topics ranging from burnout to wound care using a voucher system that allows the nurses to select five lectures to attend out of all that are offered. This is an opportunity for flexibility, interest and networking with other professionals."

Each single session is $25 for professionals and $10 for students (ID required). To register, contact CET at (402) 457-2491 or cetreg@mccneb.edu. If you have any questions or would like more information, call Loretté Teal at (402) 457-2546.
