Spend a beautiful day in Abilene, KS creating special memories. Begin the day with a breakfast snack. Enjoy the luxurious Seelye Mansion, one of the finest Georgian style homes in the nation! There you'll receive a guided tour of 25 elegant rooms, including eleven bedrooms, ballroom, bowling alley, and music room with gold French furniture and Steinway Grand piano. The mansion features the original furniture, a Tiffany-designed fireplace, and Edison light fixtures. For you midday meal, enjoy a delicious home-style luncheon (salad, entrTe, roll, dessert, and drink) at Mr. K's Farmhouse Restaurant. Former guests include foreign diplomats, White House officials, and President Eisenhower. Your destination for the afternoon will be the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. Learn about the private life of the famous Five-Star General of the Army and our 34th President. The Museum building has a circular traffic pattern and contains exhibits covering every phase of Eisenhower's life. From the Museum you'll proceed to the final resting place of the president, his wife Mamie, and their first-born son. An on-your-own option is a tour of his boyhood home. Before returning home, there will be a special trip to see and ride the famous 1901 C W Parker Carousel. A stop will be on the way home at a fast food restaurant. Cost paid to Metro includes bus transportation and the Eisenhower Museum fee. A $30 fee for luncheon, Seelye Mansion guided tour, C W Parker Carousel /museum, and breakfast snack will be collected as you board the bus. Other meals and shopping are not included. Our deluxe motor coach departs promptly at 6:00AM from Metro's Sarpy Center, 9110 Giles Road (please park and meet the bus at the northeast parking lot).
