Entrance Counseling

The Financial Aid and Veteran Services Office is pleased to offer Entrance Loan Counseling via our web page.

Each student receiving a Federal Stafford Loan at Metro for the first time or, if it has been more than three years since last counseling at Metro, must attend Loan Entrance Counseling. This requirement also applies to students who have previously borrowed at another institution. Loan funds cannot be released until this requirement has been met.

Borrowing to finance ones education is a serious commitment, and the following screens will attempt to give you the information you need to manage your loans and to fully understand the responsibility of borrowing.

This program will meet your Entrance Counseling requirement if you follow the program instructions, carefully read each of the sections, answer the question at the end of each section correctly, and print, sign, and bring the Entrance Loan Counseling Certification form to the Financial Aid Office at any campus.

This session will inform you about:

Facts about Loans

Repayment Options

Dealing with repayment

The penalties of default

Key information for Metro borrowers

Please Note: You are required to successfully complete the testing component before you will be allowed to print the Entrance Loan Counseling Form. The form, located at the end of the session, must be printed, filled out and returned to a Metro Financial Aid Office.  If you do not have access to a printer, you will not be able to complete Online Counseling.

If you have any questions regarding Entrance Loan Counseling, contact your nearest campus financial aid office.
