Financial Planner

Financial Planning is one of the fastest growing professions in the nation. As baby boomers plan for retirement and investors seek advice on creating and preserving wealth, the need for financial planners will continue to increase.

Having a client's trust in your competence and ethics is key to having a long-term business relationship. Metropolitan Community College’s Financial Planning program will prepare you to become a trusted adviser by educating clients, helping them solve problems and anticipating their needs.

CFP® Examination Preparation - Registered with the CFP Board of Standards, Inc.

Metropolitan Community College’s Financial Planning program fulfills the educational component of the CFP® Certification Examination and is registered with the CFP Certified Financial Board Planner Board of Standards, Inc. Successful completion of the educational requirements qualifies you to take the CFP® Certification Examination.

While adhering to the strict standards of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., MCC takes a real world approach to financial planning that is project-driven and uses case studies as the basis for learning.

Affordable. Online.

The financial planning certificate program may be completed entirely online and is the most affordable program of its kind on the Web.

Our dynamic curriculum has a cumulative effect from course to course, as the ramifications of retirement, tax and estate planning strategies are examined. Our courses offer a high degree of interaction, creativity and innovation to challenge you. And because you regularly conduct research using the Internet, Web literacy becomes a secondary component of the program.

MCC Offers Two Program Options:

1)  Certificate of Achievement in Personal Financial Planning

The mission and purpose of MCC's Certificate of Achievement in Personal Financial Planning is to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed as a financial planning professional. This program offers the individual practical experiences in the fields of personal investment strategies related to retirement planning, estate planning, and tax-advantaged investments. After completing core program courses, you will be qualified to take the CFP® Certification Exam. This program may be completed entirely online.

2)  Associate in Applied Science Degree

If a degree is your goal, Metropolitan Community College also offers a two-year Associate in Applied Science degree with a specialization in financial planning and investments. This is an excellent opportunity for the individual employed in or planning a career in the financial planning and services industry. The curriculum provides exposure to a broad range of topics encompassing the financial planning and investment process.

We think a community college offers the right environment

Our classes are affordable, and small. There is even a limit on the number of students who may enroll in the online course to ensure quality and the personal attention you need to succeed. As an "open-enrollment" campus, a formal program application is not necessary. To participate in the Financial Planning Program, all you need do is register for a course.
