Non-Standard Software Installation Request Instructions

Purpose: To ensure the software installed on College-owned computers does not exceed the number authorized by the license and is compatible with existing software and hardware.  Also, to define the process to request the installation of non-standard software on computers in Course Conferencing or Technology Rooms, Academic Resource Centers, INFO/Visual Arts classrooms, classrooms with computers, or office computers.
 

General:  These guidelines must be followed to ensure the coordination with necessary offices and that all required documents are completed.

 

Requesting the installation of non-standard software in Course Conferencing or Technology Rooms, Academic Resource Centers, INFO/Visual Arts classrooms, classrooms with computers, or office computers.  The requester is responsible for completing and submitting this form.  After submitting the form, please allow up to 5 weeks for the software to be installed.

 

Note:  If the software is part of the standard-load, this form is NOT used.  Please e-mail your request to the Help Desk.

 

Requester Responsibilities:

  1. Determine the publisher, name and version of program to be installed

  2. Determine whether the software is standard or nonstandard 

  3. If the software comes with a textbook, determine the contact information for the Book Representative

  4. Send the software and a copy of the license to a Network Server Analyst (NSA)

  5. Complete the online request form accordingly and submit

  6. Make a copy of the online confirmation page for your records

Note: Approval to install software does not guarantee the software is compatible with the College’s hardware and software, especially on computers in the Technology and Course Conferencing rooms.  Regardless of where you want to install the software, it is recommended that requesters acquire a trial, demo, or evaluation copy of the software from the vendor, install the demo software, and test it.  If assistance with the installation of the demo software is needed, please contact the Help Desk (457-2900).
