John "Jack" Kawa - MCC Foundation Board of Directors
Jack Kawa, the son of Frank and Ester Kawa (founder of Johnny's Cafe), was born in Omaha, Nebraska.
A 1959 graduate of Creighton Prep High and the New Mexico Military Institute Jr. College, he also attended Creighton University.
The owner of Johnny's Cafe from 1964 - 2006, two of his daughters are now the owners. Jack is the president of the Omaha Restaurant Association Foundation and past president of the Omaha Restaurant Association and the Nebraska Restaurant Association.
Nebraska Restaurateur of the year in 1974, he was a member of the National Restaurant Association Board from 1982 to 1990.
Jack was also a member of the National Livestock and Meat Board in 1984 and the recipient of the Omaha Restaurant of the Year Award in 1988.
Jack was inducted into the Omaha Restaurant Hospitality Hall of Fame at Metropolitan Community College in 2004 and is a current board member of the Field Club of Omaha, St. Margaret Mary Home and School President, and Co-Chair of the Duchesne Academy Golf Tournament.
Jack and his wife, Mary Carol Arts Kawa, are the parents of four daughters and three grandchildren.
