2012 CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
All events are located at the Historic Fort Omaha Campus unless otherwise stated.
The foundation of the Conference is the daily PlayLab. For the 2012 GPTC, thirty new works have been selected from over 640 submitted. They will be rehearsed by local and national directors and actors, and performed in staged readings. Playwrights will hear their play and receive feedback from master playwrights, theater scholars, directors and the public, in a guided response setting. The daily PlayLabs are free and open to the public.
Concurrent PlayLab Panelists: TBA
The MainStage Series is comprised of the five top-rated plays of those submitted. These plays receive special recognition through selection for the MainStage Series. Throughout the Conference, staged readings of the MainStage scripts are presented; after which a panel of top theatre professionals serve as respondents to the work. The MainStage Series is free and open to the public.
MainStage Series Panelists:
Rebecca Gilman, Constance Congdon, Naomi Iizuka, Kira Obolensky
The Theatre Workshop is a series of hands-on playwriting and performance-related classes designed and led by talented theatre professionals. Scheduled throughout the Conference, they provide educational opportunities for playwrights, actors, directors and the community. A wide variety of techniques and approaches are offered. Non-Conference registrants may attend workshops for an individual session fee.
Theatre Workshop Instructors: TBD
Theatre Workshop Coordinator: Scott Working
Evening performances are held throughout the week of the Conference in venues and cultural sites across Omaha. The performances and readings highlighting the work of the Honored Playwright and other distinguished playwrights are followed by question and answer sessions with the playwright and directors. The PlayFest is free and open to the public.
