MCC's Sustainability Initiative is comprehensively working on campus, in classrooms and around the
community to be a leader in sustainability through implementing sustainability best practices in the
following areas:
-
Mission: To be a center of sustainable education and provide job training for green
jobs through the integration of sustainability principles into existing curriculum
and the development of new curriculum and programs to prepare MCC students for green
jobs in our changing economy.
-
Mission: To promote the wise use of energy on campus, in the classroom and in the
community by becoming as energy efficient as possible and meeting the remainder of
our needs through renewable energy.
-
Mission: To cultivate healthy food systems through education and action.
-
Mission: To achieve zero-waste—to eliminate waste from our campus operations that would otherwise
end up in a landfill—by rethinking our waste practices, including increased waste reduction, reuse,
composting and recycling.
-
Mission: To promote sustainable transportation options to, from and between MCC locations, thereby
reducing the number of single-occupancy vehicle trips and decreasing the pollution from our transportation
footprint while simultaneously reducing costs of transportation.
-
Mission: To promote the wise use of water resources on campus, in the classroom and in the community by
reducing water waste, reusing water where appropriate and keeping our waterways clean.
