This course is designed to prepare the LPN to perform those duties consistent with the expanded Scope of Practice as outlined in Title 172, Chapter 102.
Upon successful completion of this course, the LPN will be eligible for examination for certification by the Bureau of Examining Boards, Department of Health, State of Nebraska.
All applicants applying for the LPN-C course must complete the following requirements prior to the class start date:
- Have current Nebraska LPN license or multi-state LPN license from a compact state as identified under the Nebraska License Compact Act
- Complete an application and provide a copy of your current LPN license
- Complete the Pharmacology Exam with a score of at least 76 percent or higher. This exam may be repeated. The Pharmacology Review Sheet will facilitate student success on the test. Contact the Testing Center at the campus nearest you to schedule your time.
Verification of current LPN licensure must be given to the instructor on the first day of class. The pharmacology exam must be taken before the first day of class and is free of charge. Use the study guide to help prepare for the pharmacology exam. The test can be taken at any of Metro’s Testing Centers. An appointment for testing is necessary.

After you have taken the Pharmacology Exam, the Assistant Director of Nursing will review and grade the exam. If you passed with a 76 percent or higher, the Assistant Director of Nursing will contact you and register you for the LPN-C course at that time.
