MCC Supports Research

MCC provides guidance for the use of our students and employees as participants in research projects through the Human Participants Research Policy, Index No. X26. Adherence to the policy demonstrates that the College encourages and supports research as systematic investigations that are designed to develop or contribute to generalized knowledge.

Any research that involves human participants must comply with federal regulations and conform to basic ethical principles. MCC's policy applies to all research projects where our students and/or employees are research or test participants. The policy does not apply to evaluation or classroom activities which are part of an organized curriculum. Responsibility for coordinating human subject research requests resides with the Center for Learning, Effectiveness, Assessment and Research (CLEAR) Office.

Researchers requesting to use MCC students and/or employees as subjects must submit a 'Research Approval Request Form for Review of Human Participants Research' form available through the CLEAR Office, The Institutional Research web site or found on the College's Forms Bank through the web site. Researchers working through an accrediting educational institution with an established human subject policy may submit a copy of the institution's application and support documents in addition to completing MCC's application. A Human Participants Research Review Committee consisting of the CLEAR Coordinator, a representative from the Office of Institutional Research, a Vice President and others as appropriate will review all applications and approve or deny requests.

Keep Idling to Minimum for Fuel Efficiency

Idling gets you 0 miles per gallon. The best way to warm up a vehicle is to drive it. No more than 30 seconds of idling on winter days is needed. Anything more simply wastes fuel and increases emissions.
