MCC’s Accreditation

David Ho, MCC Vice President, Academic Affairs and Lynn Bradman, MCC Social Sciences Instructor/CLEAR Coordinator discuss the four-year accreditation process with the North Central Association of the Higher Learning Commission.They also discuss the five criteria and their core components, and the importance of accreditation to MCC and its ongoing re-accreditation.


Nebraska Historic Storytelling

Cherrie Beam-Clarke, native Nebraskan and Nebraska Historic Storyteller reprises her role as pioneer Mariah Monahan.Cherrie tells captivating stories depicting Nebraska life from 1860 to 1895 including discussion about Christmas on the prairie, dealing with injuries, prairie fires, rattlesnake bites, harvesting Nebraska "coal," living on cornmeal, and the harsh, endless monotonous labor of pioneer life. These entertaining and educational excerpts are from Beam-Clarke's live presentations, "Promise in a New Land," "The Courage to Continue," and "Grit 'n Gumption."


MCC’s GED Completion

Patrick Boyle, Workforce Skills Director and Mona Downing Director of Adult Education discuss MCC's GED program and MCC's Express Center on South 24th Street. They explain changes that will take effect January, 2014 which will eliminate taking GED test on paper and replacing it with a computerized test.

Local Flavor - Braising Short Ribs

The show features MCC chef and instructor Oystein Solberg prepping and plating meals made with an array of local ingredients. Episodes are filmed in the Metropolitan Utilities District culinary theatre at MCC's Institute for the Culinary Arts.
