Keynote Speaker Gordon Brown, CSM U.S. Army Reserve 540th Police Battalion
Part of the mission of Military and Veteran Support Services is to enhance MCC and the surrounding community’s appreciation and awareness of our military population. As a first step in achieving that mission, MVSS held a Day of Remembrance and Military Appreciation event September 12th at the South Omaha Campus. Members of MCC’s Board of Governors, State Senators, and MCC faculty and staff, were among those attending. The diverse audience of almost 200 also included military personnel from the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, and National Guard. Audience members were treated to speeches from members of the MCC community who have served. The keynote speech was delivered by Command Sergeant Major Gordon Brown, who, in addition to serving in the Army Reserve, also has a post as an MCC faculty member in Criminal Justice. By bringing together members of the military and the surrounding community, the Day of Remembrance and Military Appreciation event demonstrated MCC’s continued commitment to supporting military students.
