1. Assemble Academic Information and Military Transcripts
Assemble any academic information such as ACT/SAT scores, official academic transcripts and military transcripts. You can receive that information by contacting your past educational institutions and have them send the official transcripts to:

2. Learn about MCC
Tours are scheduled via the tours web page - Visit MCC.
You can learn more about MCC online at www.mccneb.edu. Campus tours are welcomed. Visits are held at scheduled times at each campus. Please schedule at least one week in advance.
3. Inquire About Disability Services

4. Learn About the Office of Military and Veterans Support Services
We encourage you to explore our Military and Veterans Support Services website. The mission of the office is to
support current military service members, veterans, and their families as they pursue their academic, career, and personal goals
at MCC.
5. Apply for Military and Veteran Educational Benefits
If possible, a new veteran student should apply for benefits 30-60 days prior to the start of the quarter they plan to attend. However, an application can be completed any time during the quarter.
The Veteran Financial Services office is located in the first floor of the Connecter Building at the South Omaha Campus. Before visiting the Veteran Services office, please ensure you have all the required paperwork necessary to submit an application for VA Educational Benefits. For more information see:

6. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Any student can apply for a Pell Grant. Student registered for at least 6 quarterly hours (half-time) are also eligible to apply for student loans, work study and scholarships. To find more information on scholarships that are specific to veterans, please visit our scholarship website at

To be considered for full benefits, you must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours during the school quarter. You must also be pursuing a degree, certificate or specialist diploma in order to receive federal aid.
You can complete a FAFSA application online at www.fafsa.gov and send it to MCC with school code 004432 or at any of our Financial Aid Offices. For more information on financial aid, please visit

Contact the most convenient military advisor listed above, or call the MCC call center at 402-457-2400 to inquire about registration information or make an appointment with a regular advisor.
Once an appointment is set, you will meet with an advisor and be able to discuss your
academic interest and select a program of study. Your advisor will assist you with scheduling your classes and introducing you to the MCC WebAdvisor system. For information on how to register yourself for classes, you can visit:

8. Advance Pay
A VA student who is enrolling for the first time or who has not been enrolled for at least 30 days at any educational institution may be eligible for advance pay. The VA will pay up to two months in advance pay. Contact the Financial Aid & Veteran Services Office at least five weeks before the start of the quarter for more information and to apply.
VA students are encouraged to also apply for other Federal financial aid programs.
9. Purchase Textbooks and Other School Related Materials
At Metropolitan Community College, you are responsible for all your college materials. This includes purchasing your textbooks and other school supplies (such as notebooks, pens, folders, etc.).
You can purchase your textbooks and other school items by visiting any campus bookstore. There you will find all the class materials you need. You can also visit the bookstore website

10. Attend Classes
You are now a student at MCC and are prepared to take college courses. Keep these steps in mind for future quarters. You will need to schedule your own classes, purchase your own school materials and make payments each quarter. You will need to renew your financial aid and veterans benefits at the beginning of each school year (beginning in the fall).
