What are 'Plumbing Apprenticeship Programs? (PLAP)'
The Plumbing Apprenticeship Program prepares students to become licensed plumbers. All instructors are licensed journeyman or master plumbers. Courses include lecture and hands-on lab instruction under close supervision of the instructors. After completing the Plumbing Apprenticeship Program and the required on the job training period (four years verifiable experience), the student may apply to take the examination for the Journeyman's Plumbing License administered by the City of Omaha.
Metropolitan Community College's Plumbing Apprenticeship Program consists of four years divided into two quarters per year. Each quarter consists of two clases per week for eleven weeks for a total of seven credit hours per quarter. Classes are offered two evenings a week, September through February.
