Requirements: You must be a resident of Bellevue, NE. Individuals requesting assistance must provide proper identification and proof of address.

Steps/Process To Get Food: Bellevue residents in need of food assistance can call 293-3138 to make an appointment to receive a food pantry referral. Once a referral is obtained, the food bags can be picked up from the local distribution site from 10:00am – 4:00pm; Mon – Fri. The pantry can provide non perishable food items and vouchers for perishable food items to be used at the grocery store as much as the donations/guidelines can allow.

How Much Food Can I Have?: We try to provide enough food for the family for three days.

Requirements: Anyone who has not been to a food pantry in Council Bluffs in the last 30 days is eligible. There are no income restrictions.

Steps/Process To Get Food: There is a small information form to fill out. Usually a 10 minute wait but we sometimes get busy. You can call ahead, or walk in during any open hours.

Do You Offer House Items?: We have a free store of clothes and small household items. The items are donated so will vary. Any donated items and clothes are offered free and without any restriction.

Faith-based?: The services are an outreach of the United Methodist Church, but we do not incorporate beliefs or practices into our program at all. We want people of any faith or creed to feel comfortable and welcome in our house.

Additional Details: We also offer GED/ESL scholarships, computers for use for job search or GED study, and we are hoping to incorporate a number of new programs in the next year. Some of our future plans include a homeless outreach, life skills programs, and a computer that links to the Iowa Job Service.

Requirements: To find out if you qualify for our services, fill out an application. You can either pick up an application at our location, or fill out an application online. There is a ten day processing time. Make sure that you have at least two forms of I.D. (ex: state I.D., birth certificate, social security card) when filling out the application.

There are certain convictions that prevent you from receiving certain services.

For SNAP benefits (formerly known as Food stamps):
If you have been convicted of distributing/selling a controlled substance, then you are disqualified for SNAP benefits for your lifetime.

If you have been convicted of possession of a controlled substance, then you may be eligible for SNAP benefits if you are enrolled in or have gone through treatment. However, if you have three or more possession convictions, then you are disqualified for SNAP benefits for your lifetime.
Any drug convictions before August 22nd, 1996 automatically make individuals ineligible for SNAP benefits for their lifetime.

Please call Health and Human services for eligibility requirements in regards to other programs.

Additonal Details: If you are eligible, we can provide aid with heating expenses (energy assistance), help buying food (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program, formerly known as the food stamp program) , provide low or no-cost health care, help with child care expenses, and we provide cash assistance for low-income families with children 18 or younger (Aid to Dependent Children, or ADC).

Steps/Process To Get Food: Food is given the same day the request is made, usually within a half hour depending how long the lines are that day.

Do You Offer House Items?: Yes.  They are available on a referral basis only.

Faith-based?: No

Additional Details: If a client does not have a social security card, which is required from the Food Bank and Together Inc., we will offer the client a non-USDA pantry to tide them over until they can find other services.

Ministerial Association Pantry (Sarpy County):

This food pantry is located at our Sarpy facility for clients residing in Papillion, La Vista and Ralston.
The pantry is offered through a collaboration of local churches located in this geographic area. Bellevue residents are served through a separate food pantry located in Bellevue. Referrals for the food pantry can be accessed by contacting the Sarpy Neighborhood Emergency Services Program Specialists
at (402)339-2544.

Do You Offer House Items?: Clothing, personal care items, household goods, and furniture are offered to all Heartland Family Service clients through donations from the community. Clients need to arrange a visit to the Donation Center with a staff from their program.

Faith-based?: We are a faith based, non denominational organization. A very brief message is given while people are waiting for pantry.

Food Availability: 2 times a week, but each parish chapter offers food at varying times.

How Much Food Can I Have?: Pantry bags are allocated by family size. Each bag contains enough food for 7-10 days, plus 1/2 gallon fresh milk, a pound of frozen meat, a box of cereal, and bread. Individuals and families may receive anywhere between 1 - 4 bags of groceries depending on family size.

Emergency packs are available for those who do not meet the Pantry guidelines.

Social Security Card/# for all those participating in the pantry distribution
a piece of mail from your current address.

Steps/Process To Get Food: People under 60 years old or who are not disabled may receive a pantry every 60 days. Those over 60 or with a disability may receive a Pantry once every 30 days. There is no applicaiton process.

Do You Offer Household Items?: Household items are availble through the Thrift stores either at reduced cost or by church voucher. Items are used and vary from store to store. Most basic household itmes can be found at the stores, such as dishes, cups, pots/pans, linnens, bedding, towels, and furniture.

Faith-based?: We are a lay Catholic organization. Most of our volunteers are Catholic. We display religious symbols throughout our stores and pantry. We include a prayer card in each Pantry bag. We do not expect conversion or participation in the Catholic faith in exchange for our services. We serve all denominations and those with no formal belief system.

Additonal Details: We are a small organization supported by private donations. We are not a social service agency and are not equipped to meet every need of those who seek our help. We help as we can, share what we have, and refer people on to other agencies for more in-depth help.

Requirements: You will need a piece of POSTMARKED mail within 30 days and the following IDs each time you come in for food pantry or any material assistance services: Original (NO PHOTOCOPIES) picture ID, social security card OR birth certificate for self and household.

Steps/Process To Get Food: Come in every 30 days,bring IDs and current postmarked mail in last 30 days. You will be asked to fill out our intake form, then present IDs and mail after completion. The time to be waited on varies according to present traffic flow.

Do You Offer Household Items?: Yes, We offer both household and clothing assistance on the first WORKDAY of the every month. Both clothing and household assistance participation is every 12 MONTHS.

Faith-based?: Non denominational. If anyone would like the church to visit or to pray for them, a small application is attached to every intake form.
