ECS serves pregnant and parenting teens and young families. Families must have limited resources and live in Douglas or Sarpy Counties. ECS works with young men and women. The parent does not need to be the custodial parent.

Gendler Emergency Medication Service (Omaha):

GEMS provides free or low-cost prescriptions to individuals who need medication they cannot afford. Assistance is available primarily to individuals and families in the North Omaha area who have no medical insurance and have exhausted all other resources available to pay for medicine. Members of the Heartland Family Service Senior Center are also eligible. Participants may be requested to share in the cost of their prescriptions; however, the service is offered on a sliding scale fee, based on and revised according to federal poverty guidelines.

Steps/Joinging Process: Call clinic for appointment. Annual physicals are usually 2-3 weeks out. Episodic care may be scheduled on the same day, or within the week depending on the problem.

Additonal Details: Our provider staff is made up of two Certified Family Practice Nurse Practitioners that have both worked in this clinic for over 11 years. We are familiar with the networks for underserved and underinsured.

Do You Offer a Prescription Drug Saving Program?: We use the pharmacies that offer the best cost savings on generics. We also send prescriptions to One World Pharmacy who work with pharmaceutical companies to keep the cost for required brand name drugs to $15 a month.
