Requirements: Minimum 30 days of sobriety or graduating from an inpatient drug/alcohol treatment facility.

House Policies: No using any drugs or alcohol, no violence, must have a drug or alcohol addiction, no registered sex offenders allowed.

Steps/Process: Make an appointment for a screening. The screening will take approximately 30 minutes.

Capacity: 40 beds total.

How Long Can I Stay?: No limit as long as there is improvement in the individual.

Faith-based?: 12-step based.

Additional Details: The 1212 House is for men who are serious about recovery in a clean and safe environment.

Crossroads Connection

Cost: The cost is a sliding scale. Utilities (not cable) are provided.

Requirements: Must attend church service and counseling meeting every Sunday. Staff will help find sponsors for individuals as it is required. Must remain drug and alcohol free and adhere to housing policies. Must obtain a job or be looking for a job.

Steps/Process: Individuals may be referred to Crossroads Connection. Most are involved in Work Release. Please call or write if you are interested.

Capacity: Crossroads Connection has agreements with several apartment complexes for transitional housing. Staff can also help individuals find independent living after they have completed the Crossroads program.

How Long Can I Stay?: The program is usually 9 months.

Type of Housing Offered: Transitional Housing with substance abuse support.

Faith-based?: Yes, Christian perspective. Crossroads Connection Ministries is extremely grateful for the support of our partner churches and individuals. They provide direct financial support, gifts in kind (clothes for our clothes closet, food for our food pantry, other supplies), meals for fellowship time after worship each Sunday, worship leaders and music providers for Sunday worship, and ongoing prayers for our ministry.

Additional Details: Omaha area churches have come together to support the ministry that Crossroads Connection provides. From regular worship services for inmates and their families, to providing transitional housing for former inmates re-entering society, inmates find a support system with the goal of helping them rebuild their lives. Percentage of project life participants who stay out of prison is about 76%.

Type of Housing Offered: 3/4 Way House.

Cost: $110 a week. Includes cable, electricity, telephone, heat, bed, linens, furniture (internet not included).

Requirements: The house is geared around participation. It is for alcoholic or drug addicts who wish to become sober. All Beds are usually filled, but in order to be on the top of the waiting list, the individual needs to attend the designated AA meeting on Mon evenings (talk to David Foral for details).
There are a list of rules at the house that the individual needs to agree to in order to live there. The biggest rule is that they most stay for at least a 90 day commitment.

Steps/Process: Contact David Foral to set up a screening. Also the individual needs to attend the designated AA meetings on Mon evenings.

Capacity: 10 beds

How Long Can I Stay?: At least a 90 day commitment.

Additional Details: The Freedom Road house has been in existence for 12 years.

Cost: $425 covers the cost of the program and includes room and board.

Requirements: The New Hope Life Center for Women accepts adult females 19 years of age or older who meet the following criteria:

  • Have an addiction to a life controlling behavior, event, experience, person or substance.
  • Successfully completed alcohol or drug treatment or other appropriate 12 Step program (Ideally in-patient 30 day/residential program)
  • Must undergo detox before entering the program if relapse occurs after receiving treatment.
  • Willing to commit to a lengthy recovery process.
  • Willing to submit to the house rules, participate in all programming, establish goals, and follow a plan toward achieving those goals.
  • Physically mobile and able to participate in all programs.
  • Ready and willing to obtain gainful employment.
  • Evaluated and accepted for admission in a pre-screening meeting.
  • Not pregnant or in high school.

New Hope Life Center for Women will not accept women with:

  • Narcotic prescriptions
  • Currently self-harming
  • Sex offenders
  • Serious health conditions
  • Active eating disorder
  • Violent tendencies.

House Policies: New Hope Life Center for Women provides a structured environment which requires that women:

  1. Must, above all, have a willingness to remain clean and sober.
  2. Must be drug and alcohol-free at the time of admittance, and must remain drug and alcohol-free during their program. (We test randomly to confirm sobriety.)
  3. Commit to 12 months
  4. Must follow our 12-Step Program, including attendance at our Bible-based Twelve-Step discussion meetings.
  5. Must attend 3 Twelve Step meetings (AA, NA, CA, Celebrate Recovery or similar) per week. Two will be available in-house.
  6. Must have a 12 Step Sponsor (who is a real friend that can be counted on!).
  7. Must be employed and have a legal source of income within one month of entering the home. This provides for a woman to be self-supporting through paying her own rent and personal expenses.
  8. Must agree to follow ALL House Rules because we are intentionally structured in ways that will support sobriety and personal growth.

Steps/Process: To begin the admission process contact New Hope and request an application. Applicants who fit resident criteria will also complete an interview, background check, and reference check before being accepted.

Faith-based?: Our recovery program focuses on the holistic approach including the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the woman, with emphasis on skills and life-management training.

Additional Details: This is a transitional house for men. The goal is to provide treatment and housing from incarceration to stable living. The care begins in the halfway house to structured living in an apartment. We provide intensive outpatient treatment, mental health therapy, and case management. The setting is more supportive and more individualized to the client.

 

 

Oxford House

Type of Housing Offered: Transitional Living

Cost: $400 per month, $150 security deposit; utilities, cable, internet, staples, such as coffee, paper products, etc.

Requirements: Must complete a phone screening with the Reentry Coordinator. If accepted, you must pay the security deposit ($150) plus $200 for the first 2 week's rent, PRIOR to moving in.

House Policies:The following conditions must be met by all parolees residing in an Oxford House:

  1. If the Oxford House rules suggest stricter conditions or restrictions than mandated by the parole board, the parolee must abide by the stricter conditions of the Oxford House rules and guidelines.
  2. Failure to follow the conditions, restrictions, or guidelines may result in disciplinary action taken by the house members through a democratic process under the guidelines of Oxford House Inc. A majority vote rules.
  3. Violation of the rules and/or guidelines, may also result in the notification of your Parole Officer. Serious or continuous violations of house rules may result in expulsion from the house.
  4. You will be on a probationary period upon moving into the Oxford House. During that initial 30-day period, your curfew will be 6 p.m., until written proof of full-time employment is provided to the house. At the end of the probationary period, one of 3 things will happen:
    • You may be voted in as a full member of the house if you have adapted well and followed the contract and the Oxford House Policies and Guidelines.
    • The probationary period may be extended if the majority of the house members feel that it is warranted.
    • You may be asked to leave if the majority of the house members feel that it would be in the best interests of the house due to noncompliance on your part.
  5. You must attend a minimum of three (3) recovery meetings (AA, CA, NA CMA etc,) meetings per week and attendance must be documented in writing via court card or similar form. Some houses require 30 meetings in 30 days.
  6. You must attend an approved aftercare program. Oxford House provides a no cost aftercare program to all members of Oxford House on Monday nights from 8:30-9:30 p.m. The meetings are held at the Recovery Zone, 354 N. 76th St., and are led by Michael Rehling, LADAC, an approved provider.
  7. You must read and understand the Nebraska Oxford House policies and guidelines and sign an acknowledgment of house rules. This form must be co-signed by a witness and dated.
  8. No overnights will be allowed without verifiable written permission from your parole officer. This document must be presented to the house during the weekly house meeting. The house will vote on the subject and rule based on the your current status in the house. Absolutely NO overnights will be allowed during the first 30 days in the house, if you are not current on rent, not employed, or if you are on contract for violating house rules.
  9. All house members are subject to random UA's and breath tests. Positive results will result in immediate removal from the house and notification of your parole officer. Refusal to submit to the tests will also result in immediate removal from the house and notification of the parole officer. Any expulsion from the house will result in the forfeiture of the sobriety deposit.
  10. All members must commit to a minimum of 3 months in the house. A 2-week notice to move out is a requirement to receive the return of the sobriety deposit.
  11. A sobriety deposit of $150.00 plus 2 week’s rent ($200), for a total of $350, will be required prior to move in date.

Steps/Process: A screening process is necessary prior to being accepted into an Oxford House. The first step is to write a letter to Oxford House, P.O. Box 12417, Omaha, NE 68112, explaining the nature of your crime, how your case manager can be contacted, why you want to live in an Oxford House, and what you have been doing for your recovery while incarcerated.
We will then contact your case manager and make arrangments to set up a phone screening.

Capacity: There are 25 Oxford Houses in Omaha, 2 in Grand Island, and 1 in Kearney. There are approximately 6-8 beds in each house.

How Long Can I Stay?: There is no limit on how long you can live in an Oxford House.

Additional Details: If you have been actively working on your recovery while incarcerated, your chances of being accepted are greater.

Type of Housing Offered: Transitional housing for women.

House Rules And Requirements: The ReLeasT Lifehouse is a transtional home for women in transition, whether it be from jail, prison, treatment centers, or unhealthy relationships. Lifehouse is a structured environment with personal accountability expectations. Women who reside at the Lifehouse work, worship, serve, and are mentored in the community of Nebraska City. They are required to participate in programming, seek employment, volunteer, and work towards self-sufficiency. Lifehouse rules are sent out with applications upon request. We do not accept families; however, women are allowed to have their child(ren) visit as they transition.

Cost?  What is Included?: $100 per week fee includes all programming needs and room and board.

Steps/Joining Process: In order to be considered for acceptance into the ReLeasT Lifehouse, interested parties should call or email to get an application. Once an application is completed and returned, a screening will be arranged with the applicant. If the applicant is currently incarcerated, we work within the system parameters in order to ensure these applicants are screened, as well.

Capacity: We may house up to five women; availability fluctuates daily.

How Long Can I Stay?: There is no limit as to how long a resident may stay at the Lifehouse; however, the goal is to assist the residents to move forward to self sufficiency. Each resident's length of stay depends on their level of programming needs and progression.

Faith-based?: ReLeasT is a non-denominational faith-based program. We encourage our residents to live the life God has called them to live and to move past old behavior and forward into new life. Lifehouse residents are required to regularly attend a church of their choice, participate in a weekly Bible study, and to meet with a spiritual mentor.

Additonal Details: ReLeasT, with the support of countless community members and committed volunteers, will walk alongside the ReLeasT Lifehouse residents and offer support, encouragement, and the love of God without discrimination. We don't care about where you have been; we care about where you are going.

Steps/Process: Submit a copy of your current substance abuse evaluation via mail, email, fax or in person. Admission will depend on the evaluation, screening and availability of beds if applicable.

Capacity: 18 beds.

Additional Details: An individualized, trauma informed, strength based program is provided. Santa Monica strives to create a sanctuary enviornment. The staff is a team of dedicated professional with a wealth of experience in the field. Santa Monica is located in a victorian home in the Gold Coast neighborhood, close to the bus line.

How Long Can I Stay?: The Halfway House program is a minimum of 6 months. However, the average stay is 8 months.
