Service Areas: The DAV provides transportation from an individual's home to the VA Hospital. The DAV is able to tranport to other medical centers (Nebraska Medical Center/Creighton) if there is a referral. The DAV will do pick ups at homeless shelters.
Cost: Free if you are a Veteran.
Requirements: The DAV would like a referral from a doctor if you wish to also transport a care provider.
Steps/Process: Call the DAV to schedule transportation or to ask questions. Call one week in advance prior to the date you need transportation.
There is no waitlist.
Additonal Details: The DAV currently has 5 vans. Because these vans are not wheelchair equipped they are only able to provide transportation to those who can walk.
No food or drink in the van.
The DAV has offices in Grand Island, Norfolk, Nebraska City, Lincoln, and Shenandoah, IA.
Priority pick ups include individuals needing chemotherapy, dialysis, and heart condition treatment.
