The internship program is designed for area high school teachers, counselors, or administrators to experience hands on work that their students are typically seeking for employment. This experience will help to enhance classroom instruction for students while fostering partnerships between school and business.
What Does The Program Involve?
The program involves a 40-hour work experience at a business. Participants record skills observed on the job and formulate curriculum recommendations, timelines for possible implementation and lesson plans after the internship.
The Applicant Will Need To Arrange His/Her Own Internship.
Who Is Eligible?
Any high school teacher, counselor, or administrator within the four county MCC service area, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington, who are selected through the application process.
Will I Receive Professional Development Credit?
Interns may receive continuing education credits for participating in the program (check with your district).

How Will Interns Be Selected?
A committee comprised of representatives from business and industry, will review all of the applications. Interns will be selected considering previous participation and quality of the application. However, full time teachers who have never participated will be given priority. Efforts will be made to ensure the participant pool reflects a diversity of subject areas, school districts, etc.
Selection And Compensation?
Those selected to participate will be notified by Friday, April 19, 2013. Each intern will receive a maximum of $600 for (40) hours of participation with submission of a mini lesson plan and other reports, i.e. job profiles.
