High School Transfer Credit

Metropolitan Community College and partnering local high schools have formed agreements that allow students to use certain high school classes to meet Metropolitan Community College program requirements. Course objectives for the high school class match those of entry-level Metropolitan Community College classes.

How does this work?

  • Identify transfer courses listed on the Participating Schools webpage
  • Enroll and take those classes in your high school
  • Earn a 1 or 2 (A or B) in the transfer course
  • Apply your classes to your college program of study to receive MCC credit

NOTE: High school transfer credit may articulate to other colleges or universities.

How do I apply high school transfer credit?

You must:

  • Enroll at Metropolitan Community College and use your transfer credits within 2 years of high school graduation.
  • Complete the High School Transfer Credit Application and send Metropolitan Community College a copy of your official high school transcripts.
  • Send the documents to the Secondary Partnerships Office for evaluation. Your MCC advisor/counselor should enroll you in the next course for that program of study. For example, if you are articulating a course like INFO 1001 and that is the only INFO course needed, then simply do not register for INFO 1001. If you are getting credit for CHRM 1030, then register for the next culinary course in the program of study, like CHRM 1110.
  • A notation of articulation will be documented on your MCC transcript. It takes about 2 weeks for the course to be posted. You will receive a confirmation letter from the MCC Records Office. High school transfer classes do not count toward your MCC grade point average.
