Course Equivalency Search
This list is used to conduct a search if you want to know which courses MCC has accepted as transfer courses from other schools. Select a school from the drop-down list below, then click search.
Important Disclaimer
The information on the course equivalency search is provided as a general guide of how classes from another institution may transfer to Metropolitan Community College. This information may change and is updated as coursework is continually evaluated. The date in the description field indicates when the entry was added.
Transcript Evaluation
If you are planning on attending MCC and would like to transfer courses, please have the institution you are attending or have attended send an official transcript to the following office:
Metropolitan Community College
Records Office
Po Box 3777
Omaha NE 68103
Students may also hand deliver an official transcript from an institution to the Records Office on the Fort Omaha Campus. The transcript must be in a sealed envelope from that institution.
Transcripts will be reviewed once students have met with an advisor and declared a major. For advisement questions, please call 402-457-2400 to speak with a call center advisor or to schedule an appointment with an advisor. Click on Student Services for campus/center information.
Transcripts are typically evaluated on a course by course basis, so we are unable to evaluate requests via email or over the phone. Courses not offered by MCC will not be transferred in; nor will courses that are less in credit/quarter hours than the courses offered here. Click here for the quarter to semester hours conversion chart.
Once a transcript has been received with the student being identified with a declared program of study, it takes about 5-6 weeks for the initial evaluation to be completed. There are several factors which could lengthen the processing time, including retrieval of course descriptions or additional information needed, sending coursework to Academic Deans for input, and
during peak Records Office periods, i.e., end of a term, graduation.
The following parameters will be used in evaluating transcripts:
- Institution must be accredited (MCC is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education)
- Course content must be similar to MCC's
- Grade of C or better must have been received
- Credit hours must be equal
- Courses will be evaluated based on the program of study and general education requirements
*Note: Due to content being regularly updated for the following courses, non-MCC courses will only be accepted if they have been taken within a specific time frame:
INFO 1001, HIST 1020, HIST 1120 - courses need to have been taken 5 years from the current catalog year.
Once a transcript has been evaluated, a postcard will be sent to students informing them of the results. Students may also log onto their WebAdvisor account to view this information (under Academic Profile, Unofficial Transcripts).
If a student changes his/her academic program of study, a re-evaluation may be requested. To request a re-evaluation, the re-evaluation form must be completed.
International Transcript Evaluation
For students who wish to have an international transcript reviewed for possible credit transfer, please see the below listing. MCC cannot evaluate international transcripts without it first being evaluated by a credential transcript evaluator consultant. A student is encouraged to contact any or all of the suggested consultants for cost, as prices may vary. If a student chooses to have a transcript evaluated by one of the listed evaluators, it is strongly encouraged to have a course by course review, as well as grades listed.
Educational Credential Evaluators
