A student may attempt to earn college credit in some areas by examination. The credit-by-examination is an option for those who have a strong academic record both in high school and/or college. These comprehensive examinations are administered by appointment at the campus Testing Centers for individuals who are registered for and/or individuals that are currently enrolled in a MCC class or classes. Prior to taking any one of the exams, a student will need to pay the required fee. Each test has a fee of $80.00 plus the testing center administration fee of $20.00. For further general information about the process contact the Testing Center at one of MCC's locations listed below.
A passing grade on an examination is recorded on a student's permanent record. The score recommended by the American Council on Education is used as a guideline for exam acceptance. While the credits count toward graduation, neither the credits nor the grade is used in the calculation of a grade point average. Courses attempted by examination but not passed are not recorded.
