2007 Great Plains Theatre Conference

In 1993, Edward Albee and Dr. Jo Ann C. McDowell began a collaborative project to produce a nationally recognized Theatre Conference. As a result, Albee and Dr. McDowell held the Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Alaska for 12 years. The commitment was made to the transition to a new frontier through the 1st Annual Great Plains Theatre Conference, and we are pleased to announce the dates for the 2nd Annual Great Plains Theatre Conference: May 26-June 4, 2007.

The Great Plains Theatre Conference will continue to seek the embodiment of Albee´s quest for an important, enduring discussion of theatre at the national level; to foster educational opportunities for developing playwrights and actors; and to bring serious theatre to new audiences, and thereby stimulate the appreciation and preservation of the theatre arts in our culture.

Special events to be featured at the 2007 conference include:

• A tribute to past recipients of the Edward Albee Playwright and Director Awards
• A Writer´s Workshop for invited playwrights and other accepted students following the Conference on Sunday, June 3rd through Monday, June 4th with Edward Albee and other dignitaries in residence
• A tribute to Glyn O'Malley, Lloyd Richards, and Lawrence Sacharow
