M. Michele Phillips returned to Omaha from Minneapolis in time for the first year of the conference and has been directing new works each year since. In Minneapolis, she was a broadcast producer for Marshall Field´s, did commercial voice work, produced and directed her own play and participated in public theatrical and cinematic script readings. In Omaha, she has acted in and directed plays for SNAP! Productions (for which she serves as associate artistic director), The Omaha Community Playhouse, Creighton University, University of Nebraska–Omaha (UNO), Chanticleer Theater, Bellevue Little Theater, La Fern Williams Center, the Circle Theatre, Dundee Dinner Theatre, the Firehouse, the Upstairs Dinner Theatre, the Norton, the Jewish Community Center, Emmy Gifford Children´s Theatre, Millard North High School and Brownell Talbot. In addition, she has written, staged and filmed productions for the Omaha Symphony, UNO, Mutual of Omaha and AkSarBen. Phillips has 12 original plays to her credit, all of which have been produced. Her production of PERESTROIKA for SNAP! won both the TAG and OEA Awards for Best Drama of 2008.
