Linda Williams

My name is Linda Williams. This is the first and only play I have written and produced. By trade, I come from an Architectural Design background. This play has many facets. I came across the Lewis and Clark idea after seeing a play called ‘Clueless and Clark’ in 2004 produced by Valerie Killscrow Copeland. I found out that the Lewis and Clark expedition was ‘great’ for others and not so great for many Native American people. The play opened my eyes, but I was still curious about York—the only African-American on the expedition. I did some research on the internet about York and discovered many ‘theories’ on what happened to him after the expedition and chose one of the happier endings. The ending I have chosen is more rewarding for York and, I believe, reflects positively on Native American people, as well.
