Laurel HainesLaurel Haines

Laurel Haines lives in Chicago where she writes plays and musicals and earns a living as a freelance writer/editor. Excerpts from her play The Dianalogues are published in One on One: The Best Women's Monologues for the 21st Century (Applause Books, 2007) and the whole play is in Women Playwrights: The Best Plays of 2003 (Smith & Kraus). She has an MFA in playwriting from Arizona State University (2000).

Future Anxiety

Future Anxiety is set in a future that may not be too far off. The play takes place in a time when natural disasters are a daily occurrence, China is calling in its debts, and people are building homemade spaceships to escape the planet. It’s dark and sometimes painful, but funny.
