Sharon Sobel


Sharon Sobel has designed costumes for over 75 productions at venues which include The Public Theatre and Queens Theatre in the Park (world premiere of Week #5 of Suzan-Lori Parks’ 365 Days/365 Plays), a NY State Equity tour of I Love My Wife (lead producer, Queens Theatre in the Park), Brooklyn Academy of Music (Swing, written and directed by Elizabeth Swados), New York International Fringe Festival, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Clown College, The Juilliard School, The Bermuda Festival, Long Island Stage, North Shore Music Theatre, Madison Repertory Theatre, The Asolo Center, Nebraska Repertory Theatre, and Nebraska Shakespeare. Assisting credits include The Public Theatre, Playwrights Horizons, and Williamstown Theatre Festival.  She is a Professor of Theatre at University of Nebraska at Omaha. Sharon studied acting at HB Studios and SUNY Albany, improv at Forplay and Chicago City Limits (NYC), and tap at Carnegie-Mellon University. She is just tickled to be returning to GPTC where previously she read for Take Me to the River. Her favorite acting roles include Lorelei Lee in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the Skit Nurse in The Sunshine Boys, Olga in Carnival, Justine in Frankenstein, Eve in Creation of the World and Other Business and Diane Feinstein, in Execution of Justice. A member of United Scenic Artists, Sharon earned her MFA from Carnegie-Mellon University.
