Ahsan Naseem was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He graduated from Government
College Lahore, one of the most prestigious educational institutions of that country.
With an ambition of becoming a physician since the age of eight, Naseem pursued
medical education in his home country and moved to the United States in 1995 for
postgraduate training in psychiatry. Having completed his residency and fellowship
training at the Detroit Medical Center in 2001, he was appointed director of
the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinic at the VA Medical Center in Lincoln,
Nebraska. He has been writing as a hobby since high school and, with an extensive
experience of working with the veteran population, wrote his first play Coming
Home to express the complexities of surviving a war. He has developed clinical and
educational outreach programs in Nebraska to improve the understanding of the
psychological scars of trauma and available treatments for this disorder.
