Barbee has been active in the theatre community for a number of years. With a Masters in Theatre Arts in Directing from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, she has directed at the Anderson School House and at local community theatres. For two years Barbee ran the Summer Theatre program at Devil´s Lake, North Dakota, with great success.
As an Equity performer, Barbee appeared at the Firehouse Dinner Theatre, the Westroads Dinner Theatre, and by special permission at the Omaha Community Theatre, the Jewish Community Center, Chanticleer Theatre, and Anderson School House. She was Mrs. Crachitt in the east coast tour of A Christmas Carol and wrote, produced, and appeared in a musical revue for M´s Pub. She has been an Artist-in-Residence in Musical Theatre for the Nebraska Arts Council working with high school performers to enhance their abilities.
Voiceover work for local and regional retailers, hospitals, and corporate advertisers lead her to be a recognizable voice in the community. She also has done answering machine guidance recordings for PayPal, First Data Resources, and the national AT&T winback program, to cite just a few. Writing and appearing in corporate training videos rounds out Barbee´s professional speaking career.
Currently, Barbee teaches for Bellevue University and is an international reviewer for the Project Management Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She sits on the Nebraska Shakespeare Festival Committee Board to help plan and run the summer Shakespeare in the Park program.
This is Barbee´s third Edward Albee festival, and her second year working with the Great Plains Theatre Conference.
