Chuck Holmes was born in Omaha in the reign of Truman. He grew up in Okoboji, Iowa, and went to school in Minnesota. For many years he worked
at a used bookstore on a busy street in St. Paul. One day a woman came in to sell her Cortazar collection; Holmes immediately fell in love with
this lover of Julio. They got married and moved to Bellingham Bay where he worked at a library on an island. They have had three sons along the
way. Holmes now lives on a brittle river in a little town in far eastern South Dakota. At six o´clock every evening, the church bells
chime. His favorite author is Gertrude Stein.
