Daena is the artistic director of the Shelterbelt Theatre in Omaha, Nebraska. She made her writing debut at
the Shelterbelt Theatre in 1999 with the one-act play Curse of the Midwife. Other one-acts include
Busby`s Chair, The Three Way, Tell Me What Scares You, The Music Box, and The
Anniversary Waltz. In 2002, Daena wrote her first full-length play, Love is Strange that
garnered the Theatre Arts Guild Award for Outstanding New Script. The Anniversary Waltz was
nominated for Outstanding New Script that same year. In 2005, Daena was awarded an IAF Grant in playwriting
from the Nebraska Arts Council.
