Doug Marr graduated from the University of Nebraska–Omaha in 1979 with a degree in poetry.
Since 1983, he has been the writer-in-residence and artistic director for the Circle Theatre. He
has written more than 50 plays that have been produced in Omaha and around the country. His
plays have won awards. Marr was nominated for Nebraska Poet Laureate in 1982 . He was the first
playwright allowed to adapt for the stage the children´s literature classics Curious George and Are You
My Mother? He received the Governor´s Arts Award for Artist of the Year 1994.
