Former opera, concert, and musical theatre singing actress, Gloriahas performed 40 major and 18 minor
operatic and musical theatre roles throughout the U.S. and abroad. She has shared the stage with such opera
luminaries as Beverly Sills, Dame Joan Sutherland, and Franco Corelli and counts her performance of Maria
Callas in Terrence McNally´s Master Class as her greatest thrill. Since accepting a teaching position
at the University of Alaska in 1976, Gloria has played an integral role in the development of singers and
arts organizations throughout the state. She was appointed music director of the OPERAlaska Program, then
director of education for Anchorage Opera from 1978-83, designing, producing, and directing reduced versions
of operas and musicals for tours. In 1981, Gloria was invited to become a member of the Metropolitan Opera
National Council and has continued as the district director for Alaska. In 2000, she received the Anchorage
Mayor´s Award for the Arts and in 2001 was presented the Governor´s Award for Lifetime
Achievement. A part-time resident of Las Vegas, Gloria is the general director of Southern Nevada Opera
Association which produces Opera Las Vegas.
