Hortense Gerardo is an assistant professor of anthropology and humanities and theatre consultant in residence at Lasell College. She is the
recipient of artist grants and professional development awards from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Falmouth Cultural Council, the
Humanities Foundation and Women´s Guild at Boston University and The Vermont Studio Center. She was a participant in the 2007 Kennedy
Center Summer Intensives in Playwriting. Gerardo´s ten-minute play In the Wake of the Horsemen about the conflict in Darfur was
a finalist for the 2005 Heideman Award in the National 10-Minute Play Contest sponsored by the Actors´ Theatre of Louisville. Her works
have been featured by the Regroup Theatre in New York City, Playwrights in Performance at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the
International Centre for Women Playwrights readings at Wellesley College and the Playwrights´ Platform´s Summer Festivals 2005,
2006 and 2007. Her feature-length screenplays, Fourhand and Dancing in Exile, are in pre-production.
