Jakob Holder was born in 1978 and began writing plays 20 years later. His time studying
playwriting with Edward Albee at the University of Houston has resulted in an ongoing
mentorship. His plays have had productions and readings in Alaska, Florida, Kansas,
Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Texas and Washington. His first play, Bedtime
Solos, won a new play award at the Last Frontier Theatre Conference in 1998, and his
second play, The Shoulder, went on to win the same award in 2000. He has taught
playwriting to children in Alaska, teenagers in Florida and adults in Finland. A resident
of New York City, he is a 2002 Dramatists Guild Fellow, a 2003 Lark Theatre Fellow and
a member of Circle East Theatre Company and the Dramatists Guild.
